OLIO NUOVO DAYS 2025
Held in Paris, in prestigious locations (Le Ritz Paris, Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Ferrandi Paris) Olio Nuovo Days competition was hosted this year at Nestlé headquarter in Nestlé Lab and Nespresso salons.

- Focus:
- Olio Nuovo Days is a competition dedicated to high-quality, early-harvest extra virgin olive oils.
- It emphasizes the “Olio Nuovo” concept, which celebrates the fresh, vibrant qualities of newly pressed olive oil.
- Judging:
- The competition features a prestigious international jury of professional tasters and culinary experts.
- This includes Michelin-starred chefs, wine and olive oil sommeliers, and other respected figures in the gastronomy world. This years jury was very prestigious with 3 Michelin Stars Chef Jérôme Banctel at La Réserve Paris, 1 Michelin Star Chef Eugénie Béziat at Ritz Paris, Gérard Margeon, former head sommelier, ALAIN DUCASSE Entreprise, Florian Guilloteau, head sommelier at Ritz Paris, Vincent Yuen, Italian wine specialist and olive oil sommelier from Hong Kong, Arnaud Orsel, Intendant général, Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, Château du Clos de Vougeot, Marcelo Scofano, oleologist and olive oil buyer, Rio de Janeiro, Alexandra Paris, head of communication of French olive oil interprofession, Kristin Gervasio, olive oil sommelier, New York… Click on this link for the full list.
- The jury uses rigorous standards to evaluate the olive oils.
- Jury details:
- The jury changes from year to year, but always contains high level professionals. For example, in the 2024 edition, Nicolas Cloiseau, MOF, head of creation at LA MAISON DU CHOCOLAT, chaired the jury.
- In the 2025 northern hemisphere competition, Chef Jessica Préalpato, World’s Best Pastry Chef 2019, chaired the Extra Virgin Olive Oil jury and Pastry Chef François Perret, World Best Pastry Shop 2024.
MEDALS 2025 MAIN CATEGORIES: QUALITY COMPETITION
- Competition Structure and Medals:
- This year the quality competition included 2 main categories Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Old Fashioned Taste/Matured olives.
- The highest category is “Best of Show” for each main category: Best of Show Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Best of Show Old Fashioned Taste/Matured olives.
- The subcategories are “Best Monocultivar,” “Best Blend,” “Best Organic,” “Best DOP/PDO,” “Best High Phenolic/health claim,” “Best DOP/PDO,””Best Value”, “Best Delicate,” “Best Medium,” “Best Robust”
- There are also special awards, such as the “Olive Kids Awards” which involve children judging the oils.
- The competition is divided between the northern and southern hemisphere production times. Olio Nuovo Days was the first competition to highlight EVOO by hemisphere.
- BEST OF SHOW EVOO, OLD FASHIONED TASTE and TOP 10 EVOO to be announced at 4:00pm on March 28, 2025.
